The Pantelhó Chiapas Huipil are a traditional Tzotzil garment, made with ancestral backstrap loom techniques. These huipiles often feature hand-embroidered iconography, including representations such as the toad or other symbols related to nature and the cosmovision of the community as well as a manifestation of the history and ancestral wisdom of the Tzotzil community.
Techniques such as brocade and hand embroidery are used, often with threads dyed with natural dyes.
Beautiful short huipil handmade in backstrap loom with embroidery representing the toad on front and back and “milpa” iconography on the shoulders.
The effort and fatigue contributed by women artisans should be valued.
The backstrap loom Huipil is not expensive, it is a wearable art.
